Helen Sauder Westfall, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Born on July 8, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, Helen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Helen dedicated her life to education with Fairfax County Public Schools, inspiring countless students with her passion and commitment. Her love for learning extended beyond the classroom, as she was an avid reader and the undisputed queen of crossword puzzles. Helen had a unique talent for assigning a theme song to any event or occasion, bringing joy and laughter to those around her. Her remarkable sense of direction was legendary, as she could navigate Fairfax County without making a single left turn.

Helen is survived by her devoted husband, Raymond Westfall; and her cherished daughter, Anne McCann; along with her son-in-law, Keith. She leaves behind her adored granddaughters, Catharine and Lauren, who brought immense joy to her life. Helen is also survived by her brother, William Sauder and her nieces Christine, Julia and Elizabeth.

Preceded in death by her loving parents, Frank and Pauline Sauder, Helen’s legacy of kindness and wisdom will continue to inspire those who knew her. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate teams at Edgeworth Park and At Home Hospice for their exceptional care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the BrightSpring Hospice Foundation or the First Responders Children’s Foundation. Helen’s life was a testament to love, laughter, and learning, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
