It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert W. Battaglia on October 9, he was surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born in Norfolk on September 30th, 1940 to Gaspare and Catherine Battaglia. He graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School and American University.
Bob was the founder and CEO of Kris-Pak and Battaglia Produce. In recent years, he began the charitable organization “Better Men Coalition” and was a real estate developer.
Bob is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart Joanne, beloved children Kristen Gateno (Jamie), Greg Battaglia (Louise), Julie Brogan (BJ), brother Paul, sisters Chris, Gerri and Julia along many nieces and nephews. Bob was a devoted grandfather to Hayden Battaglia, Isaac Gateno, Robert Gateno, Brooks Brogan, and Blake Brogan. Bob was predeceased by his brother Tony and sister Bunny.
Bob was the life of the party, meeting everything with great enthusiasm- from friends to food to sports- excelling in football, track, basketball, and tennis in early years and corn hole and pickleball in his later life. His infectious laugh and unmistakable whistle will be missed by all who knew him.
Bob lived by his belief “forgiveness is the greatest virtue”. Thus, in lieu of donations, please forgive someone in your life.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.
