Andrea Valdes, 93, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Born on November 30, 1932, in Puerto Rico, Andrea was the beloved daughter of Guillermo and Salvadora Rodriguez Mendez. She lived a long life marked by quiet strength, devotion to her family, and a caring spirit that was reflected in the home she lovingly maintained.
As a dedicated homemaker, Andrea devoted herself to creating a warm and welcoming home for those she loved. She understood that the simple moments shared with family often became life’s most treasured memories. Her steady presence, gentle guidance, and unconditional love will be remembered by all who knew her.
Andrea was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Valdes; her parents, Guillermo and Salvadora Rodriguez Mendez; her sister, Elizabeth Beltran; and her brother, Abraham Mendez.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Daniel Cruz and his wife, Maritza Cruz, William Cruz and his wife, Janine Cruz; Manuel A. Valdes; Frank A. Valdes; and Elizabeth Aprile. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Lydia Neiss, and her husband, Alan Neiss; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy throughout her life.
Andrea will be remembered as a beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cherished family member, and dear friend. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, the 21st, at 10 AM at Altmeyer Funeral Home, with a procession to follow for burial at Colonial Grove Memorial Park.
