Tyler Douglas Johnson was born on May 27, 2005, to Sheila Roberts and Clifton Douglas Johnson III. He was called home to be with God on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
Tyler received his high school diploma from Denbigh High School in Newport News, Virginia, where he was also a member of the JROTC program and served as a guide for the United States Marine Corps RSS Hampton. Determined to lead a successful life and make his family proud, Tyler joined the United States Marine Corps. He was a squad leader for his boot camp platoon and graduated on September 15, 2023.
Tyler lived life to the fullest. Even though he was young, his faith was strong, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, prayed before every meal, and left everything in God’s hands. Mexican and Chinese foods were a few of his favorite foods he loved to eat. He also loved watching football and the UFC. But most of all Tyler loved his family.
He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Arthur J. Roberts and Clifton Douglas Johnson Jr.
Tyler leaves to cherish his memories his mother Sheila Roberts; father Clifton Douglas Johnson III; siblings, Christopher Graves Jr., Michael Roberts, Jaylen “JMack” McNair, Gabrielle Johnson, Josiah Johnson, Alyssa Johnson, and Joshua Johnson; maternal grandparents, Bill and Rosemary Miller; paternal grandparents, Kenny and Bonita Tyler; sister-in-law Daisha Davis; nephews, Jaecion and Kashton; niece Te’hani; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends.
A gathering of family and friends and time of reflection will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Full military honors will be rendered at 6:45 p.m.
