Judith Edmonds Williams, 83, of Williamsburg

Judith Edmonds Williams (Bucktrout Funeral Home)

Judith Edmonds Williams, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 14, 2024, at her home in Brookdale Chambrel of Williamsburg, VA. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Judy was born in Norfolk, VA on January 26, 1941 to Helen Neyhard Edmonds and Frederick H. Edmonds. She grew up with her mother and her grandparents, Ethel Parker Neyhard and Ernest Neyhard, in Riverview and Great Bridge.

After graduating from Granby High School in 1958, Judy attended Marjorie Webster Junior College. She met her future husband, Nelson Page Williams, at the bank in which she worked, and they were married in May of 1962. They happily spent the next 49 years together growing in Christ, raising their three children, caring for loved ones, working alongside each other in their home and volunteer jobs, and watching their grandchildren grow up until Nelson’s passing in 2011.

Judy was a devoted mother to her three children, Jennifer, Nelson, and Geoffrey. A stay-at-home mom, she loved cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. In her free time, she enjoyed history and worked for years at Norfolk’s Hunter House Victorian Museum and Moses Myers House and later at Colonial Williamsburg’s “May I Help You?” information desk. Judy and Nelson, Sr. were longtime members of the Tabernacle Church of Norfolk and later attended Williamsburg Community Chapel and Faith Baptist Church of Williamsburg.

Judy is survived by her children, Jennifer Williams Johnson (Mack), Nelson Page Williams, Jr., and Geoffrey Wayne Williams; her grandchildren, Drew Snead (Marie), Kendall Rose (Travis), and Matthew Snead; and her great-grandchildren, River and William.

A graveside celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Williamsburg.

Judy’s family would also like to acknowledge and give heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and workers at Brookdale Chambrel, especially those of the Clare Bridge building who looked after Judy for the past 18 months. We cannot thank you enough for the outpouring of love and support you gave to our mom and Grandmommie and also to us. Thank you and may God bless you.

John 11:25-26 “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?’”
