On September 6 2024, at 3 p.m. in Virginia Beach, VA, Carlos R. Velez, “Pop,” as many knew him, completed his journey here on earth with us. Pop’s spirit was reunited with his beloved wife, Ramona Velez in the glory of the Lord.
Pop was born November 04, 1934 in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico to Marcelo and Ramona “Mama Moncha” Velez. Pop had one brother, Hector Velez, who preceded him in reuniting with the Lord.
Pop and Ramona met in the Bronx, New York and have four surviving children, Susan Maldonado, Katherine D. Collado, Julie Gonzalez and Charles Velez, Jr. Pop was truly loved by his eleven grandkids and 20 great-grandkids, Goddaughter and niece, Marybeth Smith-Velez, nephew Wilfredo Velez among others.
“Pop,” was surrounded by love and joy until his last breath, being taken care by daughter-in law-Jennifer Glisson, Goddaughter and niece, Marybeth Smith-Velez.
At the moment, we are at peace and experiencing some sadness knowing Pop left us, but even more so, we cherished the beautiful and pleasant memories of who Pop truly was.
