Barbara Martinez, 90, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, in Virginia Beach, VA. Barbara was born August 26, 1933, to Josefina Agosto and Francisco Santiago in Corozal PR. She was a home maker.
Barbara Martinez was married to the love of her life Victor Martinez for 51 years whom she met as pen pals. She gave birth to 8 children with her spouse, 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was a loving and caring mother and wife. She loved cooking, cleaning and entertaining. She also loved to dance, sing and had a beautiful voice when she sang. Her hobbies were sewing and gardening. One of her favorite channels to watch was Sci-Fi and her Spanish novellas. She had a laugh that was contagious that would make others laugh just hearing her. Her favorite season was Christmas and decorating her tree and her house. Bari loved her sweets and coffee. Barbara’s family was her everything. She will truly be missed by us all.
Those that passed away before Barbara were her parents, siblings, her spouse Victor, children Vivian, Victor Jr, and Robert (Bobby) and her granddaughter Jessica.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children Melody, Johnny, Josephine, Lucy and her son Gilbert and their spouses, 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 siblings and other family members.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Dr., Virginia Beach. A service at Altmeyer will follow right after from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.. A graveside service will be held on the same day at 3 p.m. at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd., Suffolk, VA.
