Isaac Sisane (reader submission)

Isaac Sisane, 92, of Williamsburg passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 28.

Ike is an American Success Story. He was born in New York City to immigrants from Greece & Turkey, served in the U.S. Air Force, and was the first person in his family to complete college, earning a bachelor’s degree in business from New York University. He started working early – first as a shoe shine boy and rising in the Civil Service to lead the film preservation for the U.S. Army. After an early retirement, he opened the Williamsburg Sampler Bed & Breakfast with his wife Helen. This was his true calling. He was a gracious innkeeper and baked muffins and welcomed guests into his 90’s. He began traveling extensively while working in Germany, visiting more than 20 countries on four continents.

He is survived by his daughters, Laura Reeves of Williamsburg, Karen Riddle of Luray and Jennifer Sisane of Midlothan, Sons In Law, Craig Reeves and Ralph Riddle, and his grandchildren Casey and Carter Reeves, Ella and Diego Leonides Sisane. Ike is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 40 years, Helen Marie Sisane.

A reception celebrating his extraordinary life and generous spirit will be held on Sunday, August 11 at the William & Mary Alumni House – 500 Richmond Road at 3 p.m.
