Cynthia Lyn Cole passed away at home May 9, 2024 surrounded by her family after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Decatur, IL May 21, 1949 where she spent a significant portion of her life. She later moved to Virginia Beach, VA where she developed a deep affection for the ocean. Sailing and being near the water brought her immense joy.
In her professional life Cynthia excelled in outside sales and had a natural ability to connect with people. Seeking warmer climates, Cynthia eventually settled on the Gulf Coast of Florida. However, she missed the presence of her family and decided to relocate to the Charlottesville, VA area to be near her grandchildren as they grew up. While living in the mountains of Virginia she found solace in the serenity of Smith Mountain Lake which became her getaway to boat and be on the water.
Family was always Cynthia’s top priority. A few years ago, she returned to Virginia Beach where her entire family resides. She was happiest floating on a raft, walking on the beach, boating and hosting family cookouts. Cindy was an eternal optimist and always saw the sunny side of life. Even through her diagnosis and treatment, she remained positive living every day to its fullest.
She is survived by her husband “Skip” Perks, daughter Lisa Marella, son in law James Speller, son Phillip Perks, daughter in law Staci Perks, grandchildren Madison Hughes, Logan Ebanks, Leighton Ebanks, Jasmine Speller, Victoria Speller, Alexander Perks, Christopher Skipper, Nathaniel Skipper and great grandchildren Auden and Abbott Hughes.
