John Everitt Brown, 76, of Williamsburg

John Everitt Brown (Whiting’s Funeral Home)

John Everitt Brown of Williamsburg, VA peacefully transitioned on May 8, 2024. Everitt was born on November 10, 1947, to Senora C. B. Braxton and John J. Brown. He was preceded in death by his father John J. Brown, sister Evora Reynolds, and wife Brenda Neal Brown.

Everitt attended Huntington High School. He later continued his education at Norfolk State University. He enjoyed a career as a mechanical engineer technician at the Langley branch of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Everitt was an avid tennis player and salsa dancer. If you were looking for him, the best place to find him was either on a tennis court or at home in his chair with the TV watching him. He enjoyed making architectural drawings and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved imparting knowledge to the next generation by teaching them to use power tools, sew, and fix things around the house. He will truly be missed.

Everitt is survived by his wife Carmen Brown; children, Rashad Brown (Crystal), Myia Sower (Derek), Carmen Wilson, Rafael Wilson (Lizette), and Michael Wilson; grandchildren, Trinity Smith, Kayleigh Smith, John Brown, Charlotte Brown, Kingston Brown, Andres Payne, Aliana Paris, Ttattiannna Wilson, Rafael Wilson Jr., and Stephanie Wilson; mother Senora Braxton; brother Evan Brown; sisters, Evie Curtis (Alvin), Kishla Braxton, and Eve Keeya Turner; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Holmes (Powhatan) and Joan Neal; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Mr. Brown may be viewed from 1 p.m. until the hour of his service.
