Celestine Joan Jones, known as “Celest” took her rest on May 6, 2024. She was born on June 16, 1948, to the late Eliza and Saxton Ashlock Sr., in Williamsburg, Virginia.
At an early age, Celestine gave her heart and life to the Lord and joined St. John Baptist Church. She served on various committees, was a member of the gospel choir, the Ruth Missionary, and the Ushers Board. She was also a member of the Buffalo Boys. She loved singing her songs unto the Lord. Her favorite song was “Take Your Burdens to Jesus.” Serving the Lord was in her DNA.
Celestine dedicated her life to working as a prep cook at King Arms Tavern for over twenty years. She was also a cafeteria line server at Magruder Elementary School and as a teacher’s assistant at the Colonial Williamsburg Childcare Center. She loved kids, family, and her friends.
Celestine was a loving and caring woman who touched the lives of everyone she met. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandkids. Her beautiful smile, laughter, and loving motherly spirit left an everlasting impact on friends, family, and people she didn’t even know. She will be missed greatly by all who know her. She leaves a legacy of love, memories, kindness, and her presence with all the family and friends that she loved.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for your thoughtfulness, acts of kindness, love, and support during this difficult time in the passing of our loved one.
