Braxton “Henry” Hoggard, 82, entered the gates of Heaven on Monday, September 18, 2023.
Henry was born in Hertford County, NC to his parents, William and Mattie Hoggard. He worked as a master mechanic at Coliseum Lincoln Mercury for 20+ years; working his way up to service manager. When his health didn’t allow him to continue working, Henry became the neighborhood mechanic and would always lend a helping hand. You could often find him at Garrett Motors sharing his expertise. He was an active member of Bethany Methodist Church of Hampton.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty Hoggard and son-in-law, John Harris. He is survived by his son, Donnie Hoggard (Patty); his two daughters, Beverly Hoggard-Harris and Charlene Jones (Mike), all of Hampton; his wife of 6 years, Jewell and bonus children, Wayne Jr (Susan) and Kathy (Keith) all of North Carolina; 14 grandchildren, Tiffany (Tony), Brandon (Becca), Damon, Shane (Paige), Chelsey, Richard (Hope), Sheree (Chris), Josh (Kayla), Jennifer (Matt), Brandon, Brook, Kevin (Renee), and Gregory; 24 great-grandchildren, Destiny, Madison, Justin, Remington, Ashton, Oakleigh, Gannon, Sydney, Austin, Colby, David, Mariah, Leland, Kylie, Brianna, Nevaeh, Dominic, Nevaeh, Nyla, Naomi, Noel, Nevin, CK and McKinley; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Spencer and Luna; a nephew, that was raised as a son, Jay McDonald (Dean) and numerous other family members. He will definitely be missed by all.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Bethany Methodist Church, 1509 Todds Lane, Hampton, VA. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
