Gloria Jean Andrews passed away June 24, 20234 in Virginia Beach, VA. She was born January 12th, 1942 to Kenneth Howard Brown and Mary Maxine Brown in Minco, OK. Gloria, “Jeannie” Andrews graced us for the last eight decades with her love, kindness, and compassion. From small town Oklahoma Jeannie grew to be an independent woman who faithfully served the Lord until her last day on June 24, 2023. She was 81.
“Jeannie” as her friends and family called her, was 20 when she married the love of her life Ernest Lee Andrews, Jr. They both grew up in Minco, Oklahoma. She was the proud wife of an officer in the United States Navy, so she and her family traveled and lived throughout the United States and even the Philippines.
Jeannie loved her life as a military wife, but she was far more. She loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, and baking fabulous desserts. Jeannie was such a fantastic cook, that when she offered to cook dinner for the small church she was attending in the DC area on Wednesday nights, the entire church started to attend Wednesday night services. Jeannie was a devoted and proud Christian. She was also an avid golfer. She even enjoyed a short time as “Ladies Club Champion” at a small local golf course.
She is predeceased by her husband, Ernest Lee Andrews, Jr., and her son Todd Steven Andrews. Left to cherish her memory are her sister Janet, her brother-in-law Donald, her brother-in-law Neal, her daughter Paige, her granddaughter Mackenzie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service at 10 a.m. at Kempsville Christian Church, 5424 Parliament Drive in Virginia Beach.
