Cong Thi Camp, 72, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 24, 2022, at her residence. She was born on April 22, 1950, the daughter of Tran Tin Tra Vinh, Vietnam.
Cong was raised on a farm in Vietnam, where she was ingrained with many valuable characteristics before immigrating to the United States with her daughter Betty and son Bill. While working as a floral designer at The Williamsburg Pottery, Cong met her husband, Jerry Lee Camp Sr., on the way home from work when her car broke down. Jerry fixed her car, and they were married a very short time after. Cong was a devoted member of Zion Baptist Church, Williamsburg. She was also an active supporter of local high school sporting events, cheering on her sons, Albert and Larry, along with their teammates. She was very loved and respected by everyone in the community and was fondly referred to as Momma Camp. Her famous eggrolls were well-known throughout the country.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Lee Camp Sr., and son, Bill Tran.
Her memories will forever remain with her daughter Betty Thach of Williamsburg, VA; sons, Albert Camp ofGilbert, AZ, and Larry Camp of Chandler, AZ; stepson, Jerry Camp Jr of Williamsburg, VA; granddaughter, Helen Nguyen of Tacoma, WA; grandson, Deion Chan of Williamsburg, VA; great-granddaughter, Nori Khamsoksavath of Tacoma, WA; her family in Vietnam, as well as many other nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and close friends.
A celebration of life will be held at noon Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Zion Baptist Church, Williamsburg. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Camp may be viewed in the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Facial coverings are required.
