Shirley Dodd Laman, 93, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at The Gardens of Warwick Forest. She was born in Warwick County and was a lifelong Newport News resident. She graduated from Newport News High School. Shirley was passionate about teaching and especially loved her time teaching at the Jewish Community Center. She was a longtime member of Hidenwood Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses and Edith Dodd; her first husband, Bernard Mandel and her second husband, Arthur Laman. She is survived by her children, Terry W. Peters, Brian K. Peters and Devon D. Shimoda; her grandchildren, Justin Peters, Diana Shimoda
And Ryan Shimoda; her great-grandchildren, Kimber and Henry Peters and Corbin Wimington.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Peninsula Memorial Park by Rev. Andrew Whitehead. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
