George Henry Haupt, Jr., 76, of Urbanna, VA, formerly of Charles City, passed away unexpectedly September 7, 2022.
Henry was an avid saltwater fisherman and outdoorsman, who loved fishing, golfing and hunting with friends and family. He dearly loved his sons and grandchildren, and had a true soft spot for his dogs. Henry served in the Air National Guard. While Henry’s lifelong career was in banking, he felt especially blessed in recent years to continue his work in finance with the Evelyn family, a position he would describe as his dream job.
Henry was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Haupt, and stepson, William Ruffin Creekmur. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Haupt; two sons, George Henry Haupt, III and Benjamin Graham Haupt (Tracie); three grandchildren, Rachel Haupt, William Haupt and Henry Haupt, IV; brother, Warren Haupt (Ann); and mother-in-law, Ridgley Copland; sister-in-law, Mary Pat Davis (Curtis); brothers-in-law, Jeff Copland (Tammy) and Garnett Copland; sister-in-law, Jan Haupt; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Vincent Funeral Home in Providence Forge will be open 12 to 5 pm, Sunday, September 11th for visitation; the family will be present to receive friends between 2 and 5 pm. A funeral service will be held 11 am, Monday, September 12th at Westover Episcopal Church, 6401 John Tyler Hwy., Charles City, VA 23030 and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Charles City, Urbanna or New Kent Volunteer Rescue Squads.
