Mary Lou Crist, 74, passed away peacefully Friday, May 20, 2022 at her Newport News home. She was born in Olean NY, the eldest daughter of Clara Smugorzewski and the late James A. Robinson, Jr. She was pre-deceased by her previous husband, Parker M. Loeffler. She is survived by her spouse, Wayne Lee Crist; her Mom; children, Rebecca Caron Lienau (James) of Spruce Grove, AB & Daniel Caron of Madison, MS; her grandchildren, Elizabeth & Ceridwyn Lienau & R. Luke Caron; her siblings, Sharon Kelly (Mike), Michael Robinson (Johnna), Elizabeth R. Robson, James III (Barbara), John, Terah, Ruby Farmer and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews who will miss her gracious & loving presence in their lives.
Mary Lou was a 1966 graduate of Nazareth Academy in Rochester NY. She was a legal secretary in Rochester, a legal & medical secretary in Washington DC & Edmonton, AB.
She was exceptionally creative and gifted seamstress from an early age with impeccable style & grace. She had an unerring eye for design, color & presentation. She absolutely loved to crochet, knit, sew & quilt. She thrived creating great meals & desserts-and wedding cakes- using her collected prize recipes; often hosting weekly feasts for family & friends. Her absence will be felt deeply.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2022 at St. Jerome Catholic Church with interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park (both in Newport News VA). Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
