Rodney Washington, born June 22, 1951, to the late Charles Levi Washington and Catherine Parsons Washington, finished his course and transitioned into eternal life on August 26, 2021.
Rodney was educated in the York County public schools and graduated from York high school with the class of 1969. He enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged due to mental health issues which he dealt with for the rest of his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother, Charles Levi Washington Jr.; sister-in-law, Estelle B. Washington; and brother, Philip Washington. Rodney is survived by his two sisters, Catherine P. Miller and Gwendolyn Michelle Washington, with whom he leaves many cherished memories. He also leaves behind a special bond with his nephew, Gerod O. Smith Jr.; joyful memories with five nieces, two nephews, ten great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of beloved cousins and friends.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 1:00 pm, May 28, 2022, in Whiting’s Funeral Home.
