Dorothy Lee Jefferson, 84

GRAFTON — On the morning of Tuesday, March 29, 2022, God sent his angels to Riverside Regional Medical center to bring His beloved daughter, Dorothy Lee Jefferson home for eternal rest. Her earthly journey began on June 20, 1937, the daughter of the late Betty and Lawrence Walker Sr.

She was a devoted member of Grafton Baptist Church – Harris Grove and faithfully served in the Grafton Baptist Church Aide Ministry. She was educated in the York County Public School system graduating from James Weldon Johnson in 1955. She retired from the York County School Division and Dominion Energy (Formerly Virginia Power)

Dorothy loved watching soap operas and Wheel of Fortune. She also enjoyed working in her yard and talking with her family and friends. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was also preceded in death by her children, Baby Girl Jefferson and Charles “Speedy” Jefferson; grandson, Christopher Sean Jefferson; siblings, Lawrence Walker Jr., Harry Walker, and Anne Redcross. Dorothy’s memories and legacy will continue in the lives of her two daughters, Pamela Jefferson Baytop and Evelyn Cash (Daryl Sr), all of Yorktown; two grandsons, Nicholas Jefferson and Daryl Cash Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Bryce, Makayla, and Chloe Jefferson; daughter-in-law, Shelia Jefferson; sister, Martha Walker of Williamsburg; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2022, at Whiting’s Funeral Home with Rev. Reginald N. Bagley officiating. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment to follow in Grafton Baptist Church – Harris Grove Cemetery. Ms. Jefferson may be viewed on Monday beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of her service in the funeral home.
