NEWPORT NEWS — William “Barry” McDade, 73, of Newport News, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.
Barry was born to the late Billy & Helen McDade. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley McDade.
He is survived by his loving family and was husband to Doris for 52 years, dad to Steven (Dawn) and Kevin (Suzanne), and Popop to Kayla, Cole, and Anderson.
Barry was a 1966 graduate of Hampton High School. After graduating, he had a lifelong career in the dairy industry, retiring from Marva Maid Dairy in 2016.
Throughout his life, Barry enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and many annual trips to Hilton Head with his dear friends. He always looked forward to his Tuesday night men’s group meetings, where we know he will be greatly missed. His greatest blessings were spending time with his family and he was most proud of his grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Kruger, Tiffany and the staff at Virginia Oncology Associates for their amazing care over the last few years.
The family will receive friends at 11:30 AM., on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Weymouth Funeral Home, 12746 Nettles Drive, Newport News, VA. Funeral Services will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
