CHARLES CITY COUNTY — Ruffin “Buck” Odell Jones, Jr., 66, of Charles City County, entered eternal rest on September 27, 2021. He was born on November 8, 1954 to Ann and Ruffin Jones, Sr. Buck was preceded in death by his younger brother, Peter D. Jones, Sr.
While in the military, Buck met the love of his life, Brenda Shorts, who preceded him in death. Together they birthed three children: Ruffin “BJ” III, Justin and Kristy. Buck would eventually find love again and Rhonda Grooms was by his side when he passed away.
Buck was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, grilling and especially fishing. He was also a great cook and loved cooking or grilling for family.
There are many loved ones left to cherish Buck’s memory, including his two sons, Ruffin III (Angel) and Justin; one daughter, Kristy Monds (Antonio); grandchildren, Raekwon, Justin II, Brooklynn, Dorian, Autumn, Markeis, Leah, Kamryn, Breyden and Kristion; three sisters, Gayle Quivers, Beatrice Banks and Valarie Brooks; two brothers, Michael (Yvonne) and Mallory Jones; aunt, Jean Brown, Joan Calhoun and Amanda Jefferson; uncles, Thomas and Alphus Jones; nieces, Jene’, LaToya, Jamie, Candace, Chelene, Natalie, Jessica and Kimberly; nephews, JB, Deono, PJ, Nicholas and Marco; his special friend, Rhonda Grooms, and her children, Africa and Joshua; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held from 3PM-5PM, Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2021, also at the funeral home, and interment will follow at Gilfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
