Dorothy “Dot” Farrell, 88, Loved Being With Family

WILLIAMSBURG — Dorothy Farrell, affectionately called “Dot”, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Dorothy passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at the age of 88, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. She was born on April 13, 1933, to Joseph John McCann and Irene Mae McCann in Providence, Rhode Island.

Dot loved spending time with her great-grandchildren and being with family during the holidays. She also enjoyed making crocheted blankets.

She is predeceased by her loving husband Thomas Farrell Sr., parents, brother, Joseph McCann, grandson, S. Sgt. Michael Leach, and granddaughter, Elvira Farrell.

She is survived by her seven children, Patricia Farrell, Joesph Farrell, Kathryn Robinson, Margaret Moore, Pauline Hamilton, John Farrell, and Thomas Farrell Jr.; twenty-one grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, October 4, 2021, at Hampton National Cemetery, Hampton University Section.
