NEWPORT NEWS — Bobby Campbell, 84, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021.
He was born and raised in Harlan County, Ky., and had 11 siblings, of which he was the youngest. Bobby served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He came to Virginia after his time in the Army. He worked for the Newport News Police Department for 33 years as a detective in the Homicide Division. He also loved to golf every chance he got.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie; two sons, Wayne and Michael; and grandchildren, Lindsay, Matthew and Hannah.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 27, at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park with Newport News Police Department Honors.
