YORKTOWN — Dr. Sanjeev Chopra, 68, departed on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Riverside Hospital, Newport News.
Sanjeev was born in Ferozepur, Punjab, to Mohan Chopra and Chandar Kanta Chopra, who preceded him in death. He grew up with his elder brother, Sunil Chopra; younger sister, Sudha Kant; and younger brother, Sudhir Chopra.
He is survived by his wife, Asha Chopra; sons, Samar and Abhinav Chopra; grandchildren, Neeti, Rohaan, Shivaan and Khushaan Chopra; his extended family in Germany, the Kohli and Chadha families.
Sanjeev earned Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science. He was always eager to learn and had in depth knowledge about many topics. He retired as a professor and department head of information systems at Thomas Nelson Community College, where he was loved by his students. Sanjeev enjoyed shopping, good food, music, reading, technology and spiritual learning. He was an extrovert; he loved life. He always enjoyed a challenging and stimulating conversation. He was most proud of his family.
Sanjeev was a loving husband, father, brother, son and good friend. He lived a good, fulfilling life and will be deeply missed. We pray that his soul rests in peace.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 12, at Weymouth Funeral Home.
