E. Ann DeShazor, 87, created award-winning duck decoys

NEWPORT NEWS — E. Ann DeShazor, 87, passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law.

She was a native of Newport News and a lifelong Peninsula resident. In her later years, she lived in Toano. Ann worked in the court systems of Newport News and Williamsburg and retired from the New Kent County Circuit Court as a deputy clerk of courts, after a career of over 30 years.

Ann had many interests in her life, including hand painting china plates and other china items, painting and detailing award-winning duck decoys, and her number one passion was equestrian activities, including riding.

Ann was preceded in death by her husbands, John R. Collins and George D. “Pie” DeShazor, and her sons, Steven and Brad Collins.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Parks; sons, Bobby Tanner and Mike Collins; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 12. Guests are invited to participate in the service through livestreaming at peninsulafuneralhome.com/video. Masks and social distancing will be required. Inurnment will be private.
