
WILLIAMSBURG — Charles Allen “Chuck” Smith, 78, passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, after fighting pancreatic cancer for almost two years.
Chuck was born on March 7, 1942, in Bell, California, to Charles W. and Violet Marie Smith, née Lewis. He grew up outside of Los Angeles and graduated in 1960 from Montebello High School. He attended California State University, Fullerton and served in the U.S. Naval Air Reserve.
Before moving to Williamsburg in 1994, he was the assistant plant manager for Fabergé Inc. in Pomona, California, for over 30 years.
Chuck’s passion in life since childhood was building and flying remote control model airplanes; he was a member of Colonial Virginia Aeromodelers. He also enjoyed traveling, and especially his trips to Yosemite.
He is survived by his wife, Susie Baldwin; daughter, Lisa Alba (Ruben); son, David Cook; brothers, Richard (Christina) and Jack Smith; stepchildren, Kevin and Jennie Mummert; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Chuck’s passion for model aviation to the Academy of Model Aeronautics Foundation, 5161 E. Memorial Drive, Muncie, IN 47302.
