Sheila Towle Douglas, 82, fondly remembered for her great love of animals

TOANO — Sheila Towle Douglas, 82, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021. She was born Dec. 28, 1938, in Pittsburg, New Hampshire.

Sheila is survived by her three children, Debbie and Rodney Belcher of Wake, Daryl and Gina Douglas of Cody, Wyoming, and Dennis Douglas of Toano; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with one on the way; father of her children and former husband, Alan Douglas of Gloucester; brother, Ronald Towle of Franklin, New Hampshire; and extended family around Colebrook, New Hampshire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Thomas Towle and Barbara Woods Towle of Pittsburg, New Hampshire; and brothers, Charles “Charlie” Towle of Clarksville, New Hampshire, and Ernie Towle of Cadwell, Georgia.

Shelia was a loving mother and wonderful “Mimi” to her grand and great-grandchildren. In addition to being remembered as a woman who cherished her family, she will be fondly remembered for her great love of animals, houseplants (particularly Christmas cacti, including one given to her by her mother), reading, Scrabble games, Jeopardy and holiday eggnog.

A graveside service will be held at the Indian Stream Cemetery, Pittsburg, New Hampshire, in the spring.
