PHILADELPHIA — Thelma Ilene Blow, 85, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2020.

A lover of family, friends, football and the Home Shopping Network, Thelma lived her life the way she wanted. Though a native of Yorktown, proud graduate of Yorktown Training School and lifelong member of Grafton Baptist Church Harris Grove, she moved to Philadelphia as a young adult and resided there until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joda Cohen; parents, Eddie and Edith Blow; and siblings, Carolyn B. Readen, Naomi Howard, Harvey Blow and Eddie “Jimmy” Blow.

Left to cherish the memories of Thelma Blow include her siblings, Norman Blow (Josephine), Shirley Combs, Marionette Pearson, Gloria Nickelson (Chester) and Donald Blow; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Blow and Shirley Blow; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and dear friends who will lovingly remember her.

A walk-through viewing will be held from 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. An intimate service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at the funeral home with the Rev. Reginald Bagley officiating. Due to COVID-19, only 50 people may be in attendance with facial coverings and social-distancing requirements followed. Facebook livestreaming will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment will follow in Grafton Baptist Church Harris Grove Cemetery.
