Paul Bass, 65, outdoorsman who enjoyed boating and fishing on the Chickahominy River

WILLIAMSBURG — Paul Bass, 65, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, at his home after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer.

Paul Bass was born May 25, 1955, in Williamsburg to Jessie Paul Bass and Thelma Bass. Paul worked as a grounds keeping manager for Wyndham Resorts before retiring.

Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman with a passion for the outdoors and wildlife. He enjoyed boating and fishing on the Chickahominy River with his son, Leon, and friend, Collin. He was well known in the community as P.B. Paul also enjoyed watching his son, Leon, and friends play a good game of softball from time to time.

Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie Bass; son, Leon Bass; grandchildren, Kasi Bass, Kobe Bivins and McKenna Bass; former wife, Arlene Bass; sisters, Linda Wiswell, and her husband, Eric Wiswell, of Houston, Texas, and Janet Spence, and her husband, Kevin Spence, of Richmond; brother, Chris Bass of Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews,

A gathering will begin at 3 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 31, at Bucktrout Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg. Services will follow at 4 p.m.
