WILLIAMSBURG — Ioannis Theologos “Yianni” Stratas, 34, beloved son, nephew, cousin, uncle, grandson and fiance, peacefully passed away in his sleep into the loving arms of the Lord Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020. His aura of positivity engulfed anyone in his immediate vicinity.

He readily accepted responsibility for his past mistakes and was in the middle of his path to redemption when the Lord decided it was his time.

Yianna was preceded in death by his grandfather, Angelo Mageras; and stepfather, Hassen Salih.

He will be terribly missed by his mother, Georgia Mageras Salih; father, Theologos Stratas; brothers, Omar Salih and Vangeli Stratas; grandmother, Nickie Mageras; uncles, Bobby Mageras and Mario Mageras; aunt, Debbie Floropoulos; fiancé, Alba Rangel; and niece, Georgia Stratas. He developed many friendships, most notably, Thano, Thania, Savas, Cansu, and many others. Apologies to those cousins not named, but still-prominent figures in his life, Nicole, Emmy, Spiro and Nickie, come immediately to mind.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Newport News. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the church. Burial will immediately follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
