Trudie Kay Overfield, 59, active with animal rescue

VIRGINIA BEACH — Trudie Kay Overfield, 59, passed away Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020. Trudie was born Sept. 1, 1960, at Fort Lee Army Base. She was a graduate of Bayside High School.

She married David Overfield Dec. 7, 1979. Their first home was in Guam. They lived in Wisconsin, Connecticut and Illinois. Her goal was to move back to Virginia Beach, and they did that a year ago. Trudie was an avid arts and crafts person; she enjoyed crocheting, painting, sculpting and stained glass. She was a great lover of all animals, especially dogs and cats; she rescued so many.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Wendel Glen “J.R.” Parrish; both grandparents, Lila and Fred Noisworthy of Virginia Beach and Jewel and Floyd Cussins of Pennsylvania; two uncles, Marvin and Jerry Cussins of Pennsylvania; and aunt, Gay of Pennsylvania.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dave Overfield; mom and dad, Carolyn and Dan Cussins; brother, Tyson Cussins; and niece, Lila Mae.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.

She is now in God’s care and with all her loved ones. She will be sadly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local ASPCA or any dog rescue.
