
Timothy Myron “Tim” Harris, 51, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at his home in Newport News. Timothy was the fifth child born to Arthur Franklin Harris Sr. and the late Cora Elizabeth Jackson Harris of Gloucester.
He was raised in Gloucester County and graduated from Gloucester High School. He later attended Rappahannock Community College in Glenns, graduating with an Associate Degree in Mechanical Drawing.
At an early age, Tim accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Gloucester.
Tim was employed full time with Crofton Diving Corporation in Portsmouth. He also taught part-time in the adult continuing education program at New Horizons Regional Educational Center in Hampton. Tim was part of the security team at Water’s Edge Church in Yorktown, as well as, a referee for intramural sports in the Middle Peninsula area.
In addition to his mother, Cora E. Harris, he was also preceded in death by his brother, James E. Jackson.
Tim leaves to cherish his memory his father, Arthur F. Harris Sr.; three brothers, Arthur F. Harris Jr. (Cynthia), John A. Harris and Alfred L. Harris (Pamela); uncle, Matt Jackson (Rose), all of Gloucester; one nephew, Alfred Monte’ Harris (Tiffany); two great-nieces, Trinity and Taelynn; close friend, Terry Chisholm, all of Newport News; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A private funeral service will take place at 1 p.m., Friday, May 29, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel followed by interment in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Gloucester.
