
After fighting a long battle with cancer, Donald Floyd Lindsey, 60, was called from this world to an eternal journey Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019.
He was welcomed into the world Oct. 3, 1959, to the union of Robert and Doris Lindsey in Toledo, Ohio. He was the youngest of five siblings, Bob (deceased), Melva, Barbara (Pete Atherine), David (Kathy) and Jeanie.
In 1980, after completing high school, Donald joined the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Eisenhower. He was honorably discharged in 1984.
In 1982, he met his former wife, Cheryl Ross. Together, the couple was blessed with two children, Wesley and Tristian (James and grandson, Rayder).
Donald was a handyman who made a career in commercial and residential construction.
A memorial service, with Military Honors performed, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at Community Bible Church, 633 Harpersville Road, Newport News. Burial will be private at a later date in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made in honor of Donald Floyd Lindsey to the nonprofit Give an Hour, which helps veterans with free mental health care.
