Judith Mae Roberts, 70, started her earthly journey April 27, 1949, the daughter of the late Winfield and Fannie Pickett. On Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, while surrounded by her loved ones, the Lord sent his angels to bring her unto Him for eternal rest.
At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and joined Shiloh Baptist Church, Williamsburg.
“Judy,” as she was affectionately known, wore her heart on her sleeve. She gave shelter to many people and fed anyone who was hungry. Her beautiful and caring nature will forever be missed.
She was preceded in death by a son, Sidney Piggott; sister, Gaynelle Chisolm; and two brothers, Walter Fleming and John Piggott.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her two daughters, Wanda Pierce (Ronnie) of Newport News and Lucretia Piggott of Williamsburg; two sons, Tyrone Piggott (Sharon) and Rodney Piggott, both of Williamsburg; six grandchildren, Turrell (Brittany) and Shariena Pierce, both of Newport News, Javon Piggott, Sterling Piggott, Diamond Piggott and Da’Neal Taylor, all of Williamsburg; three great-grandchildren, Gabriel Covington, Londynn Pierce and Brooklynn Pierce; sister, Ruth V. Piggott of Richmond; five brothers, Arthur, Leslie, Winfield, Sherman (Desiree) and Bert (Beth); caretaker and companion, John Jones; special friend, Chris Barlow; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, at Whiting’s Chapel. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble by 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Roberts may be viewed from 11 to 1 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
