Donald R. York, 87, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 20, 1932, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, to William and Jennie York. He married the love of his life, Maureen Whitby York, of Liverpool, England, on July 21, 1956. He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Virginia Power.
He loved spending time with his family. He was a faithful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He faithfully attended New Covenant Church for 43 years, where he served as a deacon and treasurer.
He is survived by his two daughters, Donna Britt (Jerry) and Tracie Brown (Larry); four grandchildren, Laura Welton (Richard), Matthew Cross (Ashton), Brian Dunn (Pamela) and Phillip Dunn (Marisa); and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton. A celebration of life service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4, at New Covenant Church, 1079 Big Bethel Road, Hampton.
