
Roberta Louise Carter Christian, 74, drifted off into eternal rest Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, at home in Williamsburg. She was born May 12, 1945, the daughter of the late Louise Foster and Garland Carter.
At an early age, she confessed Christ as her Personal Savior and joined Mount Zion Baptist Church, Church View. She was educated in Middlesex Public Schools. As a caring and compassionate person, she enjoyed a successful career helping people as a nursing assistant. In 2010, she married Willie Christian.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Croxton.
She is survived by her husband, Willie Christian; three children, Bianca N. Carter of Newport News, Kunta F. Carter of West Point and P. Carter; granddaughter; brothers, James and Logan Croxton of Philadelphia and Garland, Gilbert and Wilbert Carter of Middlesex; sisters, Virginia Ward, Irene and Nanny Reed, Molly Jackson, Mary Carter and Caroline Carter Holmes; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Whiting’s Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation from noon to 1 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will follow services in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
