Eunice Morning White, 81, peacefully passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019, with her family at her side. Her life began Nov. 24, 1937, the daughter of the late Elizabeth and William Henry Morning Sr. of Williamsburg.
Eunice accepted Christ as her savior as a child and rededicated her life as an adult. As a born again Christian, she was a faithful member of First Baptist Church. With a servants heart, she served her neighbors and church and served as a faithful member of the church’s Women’s Auxiliary.
Eunice attended Bruton Heights School, graduating with the Class of 1956. In June of 1958, she was united in holy matrimony with Junie White. She retired from Eastern State Hospital after 32 years of service as a dietitian. After retirement, she worked in the Williamsburg-James City County School System. She also volunteered with the Food Bank, “A Gift for Ben,” providing nutritional meals for families throughout the area.
Eunice loved gardening, music, dancing, sewing and crocheting. She was also handy at fixing things around the house. We spoke of her as being her own handyman. She was a giver, a doer and had a wonderful sense of humor that made everyone laugh and feel at ease. One of her favorite sayings was, “You don’t miss your water until your well runs dry.” She even made Barbie and Ken doll clothes for her daughters.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Hazel Bostick, and Maurice Johnson; and brothers, William Henry Morning Jr., Hugh Morning, Arthur Morning and John Alvin Morning. Eunice leaves fond memories with her three daughters and two sons, Deborah White, Junius White Sr., Brigitte Key (Daryl), Kelly White and Mark White; four grandchildren, Rafael White, Junius White Jr., Aaron White and Markayla White; two great-grandchildren, Harmony White and Seyha White; siblings, Quovadis Mae Cooke and Horace Morning; two special friends Gertrude Burrell and Alvin Harold; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held at noon, Saturday, April 13, at First Baptist Church, Williamsburg. Mrs. White may be viewed at the church beginning at 10 a.m. until the hour of her service.
