George Kenneth “Ken” Dogan Jr., 86, died Wednesday, April 3, 2019, in Williamsburg. He was a resident of Spring Arbor of Williamsburg and had lived in Williamsburg since 1995.

He was born Dec. 21, 1932, in Roanoke. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a train dispatcher. He was a graduate of National Business College in Roanoke. He worked for Goodyear Tire as the office manager in Hampton, Roanoke and Williamsburg retail stores in the 1950s. He held various accounting positions with General Electric in Lynchburg, retiring after 25 years of service in 1986.

He then moved to the Hampton Roads area and had 11 years in civil service as a supervisory accountant for the Naval Aviation Department, Norfolk, and manager of budget analysis for Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown. He was a member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church and Williamsburg Masonic Lodge No.6.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Bank Dogan; parents, Pete and Minnie Dogan; and sisters, Norma Carter and Betty Dogan.

He is survived by his sons, Mike Dogan of Brooklyn, New York, and Dave Dogan (Bob Farrell) of Washington, D.C.; as well as nieces, Susan Holmes and Lisa Lane; and nephew, Ed Carter.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., Friday, April 5, at Nelsen Funeral Home. An additional visitation will be held at 8 a.m., Saturday, April 6, will a funeral service following at 9 a.m. Burial services will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Stephen Ministries; Shepherd’s Fold Ministry; and Williamsburg UMC, 500 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
