Lorraine Taylor, 85, was called to glory Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019. She was born Aug. 16, 1933, daughter of the late Thomas A. Allen and Florence Wilkerson.

Lorraine graduated from the York County Training School. She retired from Fort Eustis after many years of service. She was loved by her friends and fellow coworkers.

At an early age, Lorraine accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Mount Gilead Baptist Church. She was very active in the church, serving on the Pastor’s Aide Committee, Hospitality Aide for Pastor, Sunday school teacher for the youth and worked with the daycare. She absolutely loved children. She sang with the Missionary Choir and was a member of the Missionary Board at Rising Sun Baptist Church, Lackey. Later in life, Lorraine attended Oak Grove Baptist Church, Wakefield, where she was a member of the Pastor’s Aide Committee. She truly enjoyed life, going to church, riding out in the community and visiting the sick and shut in.

Lorraine leaves her fond memories with her husband of 38 years, Roosevelt M. Taylor; children, Robin and Sharon Bliey and Andre Florence; stepson, Rico Taylor; brother, Crawford Allen; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Whiting’s Chapel. Mrs. Taylor may be viewed from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.

A special thank you to her wonderful caregiver Chantel Moore Holmes and Hospice of Virginia.
