
On Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, Samuel Fleming Johnson III, 56, departed this earthly life at Sentara Nursing Center, Norfolk, after a long illness. His life began May 19, 1962, son of Elizabeth M. and the late Samuel Fleming Johnson Jr. of Toano.
“Peanut,” as he was affectionately known, attended the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools. He retired from the Williamsburg Pottery. He was employed as a stock associate with Earth Fare until his health prevented him from doing so.
Cherishing precious memories of Samuel are his lifetime love, Theresa Graves, and their two children, Jerrell Graves-Johnson and Keneesha Johnson; granddaughters, Lyric Johnson and Ja’mirah Graves; grandson, Jerrell Graves Jr.; brothers, Benson Johnson, Miguel Johnson, Chris Johnson (Linda) and Harold Johnson, all of Toano, and Sylvester Johnson (Sandra), of Lampasas, Texas; sisters, Sheila Coles (Elwood) of Williamsburg and Dolores Sheird and Tammy Jackson (Jonathan), both of Toano; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, at Whiting’s Funeral Home, Williamsburg. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, at the funeral home.
