Lisa Hall Breen, 58, of Yorktown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She passed peacefully with family by her side as she went on to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lisa married Mark Breen on Aug. 17, 1985. They had three children, Brittany Breen, 31, Colby Breen, 26, and Carly Breen, 21. After receiving her first grandchild, she became known as “Gi Gi” to Calvin Michael Turner, on April 6, 2018.

Lisa was preceded in death by her late father, Wilton P. Hall of Gloucester.

She is survived by her mother, Jane H. Carpenter; and stepfather, Kenneth A. Carpenter of Gloucester; and sisters, Lynn Hall of Richmond, Virginia, and Linda Hall of Clarksville, Tennessee; and stepsister, Coleen Marchese of Yorktown.

Lisa graduated from Gloucester High School in 1978. She joined the family business shortly after marriage and served as co-owner of Fisherman’s Wharf of Norfolk through 2003 and currently Harpoon Larry’s Fish House & Oyster Bar in Newport News along with County Grill & Smokehouse in Yorktown and Hampton.

Love and laughter filled Lisa’s home and her door remained open to family and friends. Always staying active, Lisa spent much of her time on the tennis court. Frequent walks along the Noland Trail were also among her weekly routine, many times with a camera in-hand to capture the moment. Her love of gardening and cooking will be celebrated indefinitely, with many recipes created and passed down for future generations.

The Outer Banks of North Carolina remained one of Lisa’s favorite places. She enjoyed soaking up the sun with friends and family, a rich tradition that she started over 30 years ago.

Lisa’s enthusiasm for life was undeniable to those around her. A strong sentiment she passed to her children was the importance of family, love and forgiveness.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home & Memorial Park. A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, at Liberty Baptist Church, 1021 Big Bethel Road, Hampton. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank Sandy Breen-Bonilla, Coleen Marchese, Larry Algar, and all those who offered their unwavering love and support when it was needed most.
