William Armstrong “Bill” Cline, 83, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018. Bill was born in Troy, Ohio, and grew up in Tipp City, Ohio. He graduated from Tippecanoe High School in 1952.
Bill graduated from The Ohio State University in 1957 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. While at Ohio State, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon social fraternity. In furthering his education, he graduated from Chase Law School (now Northern Kentucky University) in 1964 with a Juris Doctor degree.
Bill met Nancy Keezer at Ohio State, and they were married in 1957 in Middletown, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, C. Dwight and Wilma Armstrong Cline; and son, William Dennis.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; three sons, Michael, and his wife, Janet, of Parker, Colorado, Joseph of Deerfield Beach, Florida, and Andrew, and his wife, Erin, of Falls Church. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Dwight, Travis, Colin, Alex, Tori, Helen and Matthew; brother, Jerome; sister-in-law, Jane; and two nieces and a nephew.
Bill and Nancy lived most of their married life in Morristown and Mendham, New Jersey, until they retired to Williamsburg in 1998. While in Morristown Bill served on the Town Council, Planning Board and the New Jersey Tourism Board.
In his professional life, Bill worked for Armco Steel Corporation, Metal Products Division and in the Municipal Engineering field for various consultants and municipalities in New Jersey. He was a professional engineer in Ohio, New Jersey, and New York and was admitted to the Ohio Bar.
In his retirement years, he played golf, kayaked, bicycled, played bridge, traveled and attended sporting events at William & Mary. He also volunteered at Colonial Williamsburg and Historic Jamestowne.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, at Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg. Interment will be held in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City, Ohio, alongside his son William Dennis.
