On Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, God sent His angels on a special mission. The mission was to bring home for eternal rest our beloved, Ronnie Lee McCray. He was 57. He slipped into a peaceful sleep at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.
His life’s journey began Feb. 19, 1961, son of the late Roxie McCray. He was employed by Paul’s Deli for over 40 years. He was a loving and kind person who cared deeply for his family and coworkers. He was loved by all and left with us a legacy of wisdom and love.
He also was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Queen Spratley. His loving and precious memories will forever live in the hearts of his sisters, Flora, Cindy, Queen (Sam), Tammie (Tony), Phyllis (Archie), Denise and Cassandra; brothers, Lionel, Jimmy, Woodrow and Phillip (April); special and honorary brothers, George and Peter Tsipas; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; coworkers at Paul’s Deli, the South Henry Street Crew and the William & Mary community; and a host of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Ronnie may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. A celebration of Ronnie’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Bethel Restoration Center with Pastor Ventson Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 110 Carriage Road by noon Wednesday.
