Anna Rachel Richards, 88, of Williamsburg, slipped peacefully into eternal rest Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at her home. Originally from Kenly, North Carolina, Rachel lived most of her life in Williamsburg, raising five sons and a daughter.
Rachel was a founding member of Greensprings Pentecostal Church. She was employed for many years by York County Public Schools as a bus driver and founded G&R Communications with her husband. She enjoyed much of her golden years in Groveland, Florida. Rachel enjoyed playing golf, shuffleboard and cribbage. Her family joins her in rejoicing in her home coming to be with her Lord and Savior whom she was a devoted servant of.
Rachel was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Gene Richards; and son, Johnnie Richards.
She is survived by her sons, Jimmie Richards (Deirdre), David Richards (Vickie), Daniel Richards and Samuel Richards; daughter, Rebekah Horton (James); seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a host of dedicated family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Bucktrout Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Bucktrout Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, with a private interment to follow.
