Renoo Pongpayom Burton, 71, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018, after a valiant five-year battle with cancer. A tiny woman, only 4 feet 7 inches tall and 100 pounds, she was born in Bangkok, Thailand, and came to Norfolk more than 30 years ago.
She was full of life, vital and creative. A noted cook, she was famous for her spring rolls and spicy Thai dishes. Renoo retired from NEX Norfolk with 30 years of service. In retirement, she followed her passion — handmade creations; her hands never stopped.
Left to cherish and honor her memory are her sisters, Nittiya and husband Jon Powell, Plearnta Tantiwongse; daughter, Urasa, and her husband, Louis Rivera Jr.; son, Bic, and his wife, Melinda Bussuvanno; granddaughters, Tiffany, and her husband, Reginald Redmond, Autumn Bussuvanno and Leanna Rivera; grandsons, Brian Bussuvanno, Louis Rivera III and Joseph Bussuvanno; great-grandsons, Clifford Discalo and Tristen Redmond; and life partner, Ronald Sears.
She inspired love and was loved by all who met and knew her. Her multitude of friends will deeply and sincerely miss her.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Smith and Williams Funeral Home Kempsville, 4889 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach.
