Colleen Suzanne Rink, 17, of Virginia Beach, beautiful daughter, sister and friend, died Monday, July 30, 2018, with her sister, mother and father by her side.
Her last few weeks were spent surrounded by family and friends who she touched with her smile and love. She was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor on June 19.
Born in Norfolk, Colleen is survived by her father, Christopher Rink; mother, Holly O’Neil Rink; sister, Juliann Rink; as well as her extended Talton and Rink family of aunts, uncles and cousins from Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Colleen was a rising senior and honor student at the Bayside High School Health Sciences Academy in Virginia Beach and was selected as a captain for the Marlins Varsity Girls Soccer Team for the 2018-2019 school year.
She was a self-described nerd who loved her friends, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Starbucks, trashy TV shows, food, music, dancing, her Isuzu Trooper, her iPhone and Dixie “Doglin,” her German Shepherd dog. She was also voted by the outgoing senior soccer players as most likely to marry a baseball player.
The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 10, at Church of the Ascension, 4853 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11 a.m.
The family extends its sincere thanks to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters staff, nurses and doctors for their wonderful care.
Donations may be made in Colleen’s name to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation; Iron Matt or CHKD.
