Retired U.S. Navy Master Chief Petty Officer Stephen George Youngson, 82, passed away peacefully at his home Monday, Nov. 13, 2017.
Born in Milwaukee, Wis., he was the son of the late Ronald and Letha Youngson. He retired as command master chief petty officer from the U.S. Navy after 36 years of service.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandra; their daughter, Kim Marie Bargnesi (David Silverman); sons, T. Joseph Opatkiewicz, and Keith Benzin, and his wife, Colleen; grandchildren, Alex J. Bargnesi and Corey M. Bargnesi; and his best friend, Jack. Also blessed to be a part of his life were Jackie and Kellie.
Master Chief Youngson held command positions on the USS Enterprise CVN65 and NAS Alameda in California. He was a strong leader, teacher and mentor to many throughout his years. He served the United States in 95 foreign countries and all 50 states. His legend lives on. He is respected by many sailors and Marines.

Friends are invited to a celebration of Steve’s life at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, with visitation at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne Chapel with full military honors.
