Edward M. “Ted” Wood, 68, of Virginia Beach, Va., and formerly of Norfolk, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017.
A graduate of Norfolk Academy, Ted attended the University of North Carolina and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science in 1971. After serving two years as an officer in the U.S. Navy, he received a Master’s Degree in Arts and Sciences from the College of William & Mary in 1974. Ted was a member of Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wiley Wood Jr.; and mother, Ruth Wood.
Ted is survived by his children, Davis Wood of Virginia Beach, Neal Wood of Washington, D.C., and Ginny Wood of Boston, Mass.; brother, Wiley Wood III of Norfolk; sisters, Betsy Barton of Midlothian and Dallas Ritter of Ambergris Caye, Belize; two nephews, Wiley Wood IV and McCoy Wood; two nieces, Liza Stark and Archer Stark; and devoted healthcare companion of nine years, Jirina Foreman.
Ted loved his children.
A memorial service for Ted will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, at Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church, 2020 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church.
