N. Pauline Rooks Fried, 97, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017, at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Norfolk to the late Elijah and Nettie Rooks.
She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, N. Kathleen Rooks; as well as her loving husband, Edward Karl Fried, whom she married in September 1955.
She attended Maury High School and later retired from Glenrock Radiator. She was a member of Thalia UMC while singing in the choir and member of the Order of the Eastern Star while titled as Worthy Matron of Eastern Star Bayside Chapter 181. She was also affiliated with Daughter of the Nile and Tidewater Business and Professional Women’s Club.
She is survived by her son, Robert Blair Lambdin of Orange, Calif.; daughters, Carolyn Ann Sullivan of Houston, Texas, Betty Jean Holman of Virginia Beach, Va., and Lois Eileen Holleman of Virginia Beach, Va.; and 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home with burial to follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the SPCA and/or Thalia United Methodist Church.
