
Norma MaRyse Lauer, 94, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017. She was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to the late Wayne and Gertrude Refner.
Norma was a former president of a Military Wives Club. While living in Europe, she led tour groups for other military wives. She was also a tour guide for Colonial Williamsburg and a member of the Red Hat Ladies. Norma enjoyed playing Bridge, painting, gardening, cooking, entertaining and especially loved her ice cream and Starbucks. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Albert Carl Lauer.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Joyce L. Madison (Stephen) of North Carolina and Steven Lauer of New Mexico; and two granddaughters, Michelle R. Shelton (Levi) of Alabama and Kimberly D. Madison of North Carolina.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
